Trebuchet
Learns what your app does by using it, and tells you when it stops working. Self-hosted, for staging no SaaS tester can reach.
Trebuchet learns your app the way a person would: it signs in, opens every page, tab and menu, and tells you in plain language what the app appears to do. Your team confirms that list once, or corrects it in a sentence. It then suggests the journeys that matter, records them, and replays them whenever you ask, showing every step with a screenshot and a plain verdict: worked, or did not. Nobody writes a test, a selector or a feature file. Confirmed journeys stay fixed until you ask it to look again, so a failure means the app changed, not that the AI looked at it differently. It runs inside your network, against staging that sits behind your firewall. And because it has walked the whole app, it can film a captioned tour of it and hand you a named screenshot pack.
Planned price at launch. Per major version, per instance.
In the workshop. It ships when it's ready.
What it does.
It learns the app by using it
Give it an address and a user. Trebuchet signs in, opens every page, tab and menu a visitor would, and builds a map of your app with each view named the way you would name it.
Plain language, confirmed by you
"Here is what your app does." Confirm each item, correct it in one sentence, or mark it not relevant. What your team confirms is the contract; nothing is checked against a guess.
Journeys nobody writes
Trebuchet suggests the journeys worth checking and records them itself: signing up and waiting for the confirmation email, signing in as a named user, and everything after the login.
Stable, so a failure means something
Confirmed journeys are held fixed. Trebuchet only re-learns when you ask, and keeps everything you confirmed or corrected. A red result means your app changed.
Every step shown
Each check replays the journey and shows a screenshot for every step, with a verdict in plain words: worked, did not work, or could not check.
Won't touch what can't be undone
Mark a target as protected and Trebuchet never pays, places an order, deletes, sends a message or signs a user out. While it explores, it never presses save-style buttons at all.
Videos and screenshots, as a by-product
Film a captioned tour of every view in your app, or a video of one journey, ready to voice over. Download the whole map as a named screenshot pack.
Runs inside your network
Self-hosted, next to your staging. No SaaS tester needs a hole in your firewall, and nothing phones home.
Questions
Who is Trebuchet for?
Teams whose staging sits behind a firewall or VPN, who want to know their key journeys still work after every change, and don't want to write and maintain an end-to-end test suite to find out.
Do we have to write tests?
No. Trebuchet works out what your app does from the running app, and your team confirms or corrects it in plain language. There is no test syntax, no selectors and no feature files.
Can it gate our deploys from CI?
That is the plan for the shop edition: a command your pipeline runs that fails when a confirmed journey stops working. It is in the workshop now. Today, checks are started from Trebuchet's dashboard.
Which AI model does it use, and what leaves our network?
Trebuchet uses a model to understand screens and propose journeys. The shop edition will use the provider you choose: your own API key, a model service inside your cloud account, or a model on your own network. Screens go only to that provider. This is in the workshop.
Our staging doesn't send real email. Can it still check sign-up?
Trebuchet journeys can sign up and wait for the email, then follow the link or enter the code. For staging that sends mail nowhere, a built-in mail catcher you can point staging at is in the workshop.
Should we point it at production?
It is built for staging, where data is disposable. On a target marked protected it refuses anything irreversible, such as paying, ordering, deleting or sending, but staging is where it belongs.
How will Trebuchet be licensed?
A one-off purchase per major version, per instance, perpetual, with a 14-day full-function trial. If a licence lapses, journeys you have already confirmed keep running; only learning new ones is locked. A licence problem never breaks your checks.
Does Trebuchet send anything back to you?
No. The licence is verified offline and Trebuchet never phones home. The only outbound traffic is to the model provider you configure.
